This lipstick has a fantastic feel similar to lip balm, and the color will show on your lips. It has great staying power and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.
Recipe makes approximately 4 ozs. ~ all ingredients are weighed
Phase I
- 2.8 ozs Castor Oil
- .08 ozs Iron Oxide/Mica Powder/D&C color (a combination to obtain the desired shade of lipstick)
- .36 ozs Mica White (for a pastel shimmer lipstick) otherwise add this additional amount of another pigment.
Phase II
- .5 ozs Beeswax Pearls
- .32 ozs Carnauba Wax
- .06 ozs Vitamin E Oil
- .16 ozs Lanolin
Phase III
- drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
- drops of any all natural flavor oil (we used Cranberry)
Put the ingredients from Phase I into a small pan over very low heat. Be sure to pulverize the iron oxide, mica powder, D&C color and/ or Lip Tints before adding them to the pot. Stir well. Add the ingredients from Phase II and heat until the mixture reaches 170° or until fully melted. Remove from heat then add the ingredients from Phase III and pour into lipstick tubes or lip pots.
Photo above: We used crimson lip tint, black & red iron oxide, cranberry flavor oil. The lanolin in this recipe is what actually makes the lipstick color come off
on your lips. Using about a half ounce of any combination of iron oxide, mica powder, D&C color (our Lip Tints), finely ground, will be the final color of your
lipstick. So go ahead and blend your own special color.
